Last weekend, Friday Night Takeaway had the absolute privilege of catering an extraordinary destination wedding at the breathtaking Château Saint-Martory near Toulouse. While Saturday was dedicated to the refined sophistication of a traditional French wedding dinner, Friday night belonged to the vibrant, high-octane spirit of India.

The visual grandeur of the evening was set by the couple’s breathtaking traditional wedding attire—a true showcase of centuries-old textile artistry.
The bride was a vision in a magnificent regal lehenga, crafted from rich Banarasi brocade woven with intricate gold Zari threads and heavily embellished with hand-embroidered 3D Zardozi metalwork. She completed her look with exquisite heirloom Polki uncut diamond jewelry, a sweeping dual dupatta, and an intricate forehead Matha Patti.
Beside her, the groom looked resplendent in a royal court-inspired velvet and brocade Sherwani featuring a structured high collar, paired with a silk Safa (turban) crowned by a jewel-encrusted Kalgi brooch.
Equally mesmerizing was seeing guests who had flown in from all corners of the globe fully embrace the spirit of the celebration, draped in vibrant Indian finery. The estate grounds were transformed into a kaleidoscope of rich silks, flowing chiffons, and intricate hand embroidery, as international friends and family donned colorful sarees, tailored kurta-pyjamas, and embellished lehengas. Watching loved ones from different cultures step into traditional attire added an extra layer of warmth, unity, and joyful elegance to an already unforgettable evening.
At the heart of a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony lies the Saptapadi and Agni Pradakshina—a sacred ritual performed around a holy fire (Agni). Considered a divine witness, the fire receives offerings of grains, ghee, and herbs while sacred Vedic mantras are chanted to invoke blessings for health, prosperity, and harmony. As the bride and groom take seven steps (Saptapadi) together around the flame, each step symbolises a lifelong vow: to cherish, support, and stand by one another through every season of life. It is a deeply spiritual, moving centerpiece that bridges ancient sacred traditions with the joyful beginning of a new journey together.

Contemporary Indian Street Food: Imtiaz Hasan of Friday Night Takeaway, had the honour of curating a custom menu bringing a modern edge to traditional Indian street food. He served bold, regional recipes served street-food style—delivering vibrant, authentic flavors tailored for a luxury setting. The iconic street food papdi chaat, bhelpuri from chowpatty beach Mumbai, puchkas from the food carts in Calcutta, samosas and onion pakoras with mint and coriander chutney and tamarind sauce. Innovative Amritsari cod with spiced mushy peas lamb kebabs with a tomato and chilli relish. The all time classic butter chicken with tandoori naan and the Keralan coconut curry with poriottas and the legendary aubergine biryani. To finish kulfi cones; pistachio, malai, honey dew melon and mango! no sit down buffet, no family style dining, this took Indian wedding food to another level. Casual, relaxed canape style, small plates, circulated by the excellent chateau service team as the guests, sipped cocktails, chatted, laughed, danced and enjoyed moments creating memories.
Bhangra & High Energy: The joyous, rhythmic beats of traditional Bhangra music echoed across the estate, keeping guests on their feet late into the night.
A Grand Fireworks Finale: The evening reached its peak with a spectacular pyrotechnic display lighting up the night sky over the Garonne.
